This 2,200 lb off road A/T Trailer axle uses a torsion independent suspension system built to haul all your camping gear up to 2,200 pounds. Many rigs have a 6 inch lift installed with this axle which provides nearly 2 feet of clearance under the Skid plate.   This 2,200 lb Axle is suggested for frequent heavy cargo hauling and for Off Road Trailer applications.   The other axle for varying weight load capacities is the  1,400 lb  axle.   Please call the Tentrax friendly staff at  1-800-488-2022  if you have any questions.

OFF ROAD TRAILER AXLE FEATURES:

OFF ROAD TRAILER DEXTER AXLE DESCRIPTION:

Point 3:    The axle Torflex® suspension system is a torsion arm type suspension which is completely self-contained within the axle tube. It is attached directly to the Off Road Trailer frame using brackets which are part of the axle assembly. These axles provide improved suspension characteristics relative to axles with leaf springs through the unique arrangement of a steel torsion bar surrounded by four natural heavy duty rubber cords encased in the main structural member of the axle beam.

Point 4:    The wheel/hub spindle is attached to a lever, called the torsion arm, which is fastened to the rubber encased bar. As load is applied, the bar rotates causing a rolling/compressive resistance in the rubber cords. This action provides the same functions as conventional sprung axles with several operating advantages including independent suspension.

Points 1 & 2  are printed near the bottom of the 1,400 lb axle page.
